about me

Hello! My name is Sabina Harris and I have a private practice in San Carlos, CA. I identify as a Mixed African American cis-gendered female and I use pronouns she/her. I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #52851) in the state of California. I specialize in working with the Transition-Aged Youth (TAY - ages 16-24 years old) population and those who identify as BIPOC. I also enjoy working with individual adults and older teens of any ethnic background. I have experience working with people struggling with various issues such as depression, anxiety, substance use/misuse, cultural identity and self esteem, along with many other issues that people may face. I also specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma and help them to find ways to heal and gain strength through their experiences.

I obtained my Masters of Science in Counseling degree in 2008 and became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 2013. I have worked in various counseling settings that have allowed me to gain experience working within various support systems and community resources to provide case management services and therapeutic support. These experiences have allowed me to attend to the needs of the whole person in my clients. I have worked in outpatient settings, schools, and juvenile hall providing group, individual, and family therapy. I also provided managerial and therapeutic services in a residential setting for homeless youth ages 16-21 years old, which opened up the opportunity for me to expand my skills in "thinking outside the box" to meet the various needs of individuals.

I operate under the Humanistic Therapy approach and can utilize many forms of therapeutic treatments under this approach. As a humanistic therapist, I look at the person as a whole, emphasizing on an individual's positive traits and behaviors, and their ability to use their personal instincts to find wisdom, growth, healing, and fulfillment within themselves. I am also in the process of receiving training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and am amazed to see the positive results from this approach. I believe in working with clients together as equals in their journey, while providing a space of support, understanding, and trust without any judgement.

I would be honored to help you in your journey! Feel free to contact me to see how we can work together.
